Unicaf University Strengthens Education Links with Malawi Institutions

Unicaf University has strengthened its links with Malawi’s education community through recent visits to Lilongwe Teachers’ Training College (LTTC) and the Malawi Institute of Tourism (MIT), where faculty and students explored opportunities for advanced study and collaboration.
At LTTC’s Area 25 campus on 16 July, Unicaf University representatives met lecturers and trainee teachers to discuss education-focused degrees, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A lecturer and Unicaf graduate shared a personal account of balancing work and study, which resonated with participants considering further qualifications. Discussions also touched on how local institutions and universities can work together to address teacher training needs.

Two weeks later, on 28 July, Unicaf University representatives visited MIT’s City Centre campus in Lilongwe. The session highlighted pathways for hospitality students to continue their education, with participants exploring how flexible learning can fit around demanding work schedules. Staff and students raised questions about career development and the role of higher education in Malawi’s growing tourism sector.
The visits sparked lively exchanges about the future of education and professional development in Malawi. MIT faculty expressed interest in ongoing collaboration, while LTTC participants emphasised the importance of accessible teacher education.
Unicaf University plans to maintain links and engagement with institutions across Malawi, underscoring its broader mission to nurture academic excellence and innovation while expanding access to higher education.
