Aims/Goals and Objectives of the Programme
The Goal of the programme is to prepare education leaders capable of driving innovation of benefit to society through critical thinking and the application of well-designed and ethically applied research.
The objectives of the programme are for the student to:
1.   Extend the limits of knowledge through high quality research in education.
2.   Develop the capacity to design and undertake research of integrity with targeted impact in education.
3.   Gain expertise and mastery of an area of study in education and of associated research methods.
4.   Enhance their analytical capabilities to assess and synthesise complex ideas and issues relevant to education.
5.   Apply their learning for technical and social progress within the education context.
6.   Develop and improve their leadership skills and levels of self-understanding.
The entry requirements for admission are:
- An accredited Master’s degree in a relevant subject area. Students may be considered for doctoral study if their degree is in an unrelated field provided they have relevant professional experience and can prove their ability to work at doctorate level. A wide range of international qualifications may also be considered. Students are advised to contact the Office of Admissions to find out more about the range of international academic qualifications accepted.
- Official Master’s degree transcripts.
- Recognised proof of English proficiency if previous studies were not taught in the English language. Otherwise, an IELTS score 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in the writing component and no individual component lower than 6.0) is required; or an English Placement Test result with a 6.5 equivalence (provided no score in each individual component is less than 6.0).
- Up to date CV.
- Two official letters of recommendation (one academic and one professional).
- Research proposal.
- Copy of valid passport or national ID.
- Evidence of ability to undertake independent research.
All applicants who satisfy the above listed requirements are invited to an interview where a final admission decision will be made.
