Unicaf University and the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding educational opportunities and supporting the professional growth of women across Malawi.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Unicaf University campus in Lilongwe on 5 June 2026.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Unicaf University by Chief Operations Officer, Chrissie Kafoteka, and on behalf of OWIT Lilongwe by President Barbara Banda.

OWIT (Organization of Women in International Trade) is a global network dedicated to advancing women in international trade through professional development, networking opportunities, and business growth initiatives. In Malawi, OWIT focuses on empowering women entrepreneurs and professionals through capacity building programmes and improved access to markets.

Through this partnership, Unicaf University and OWIT will collaborate on initiatives that promote education, skills development, leadership, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning opportunities for women and professionals across Malawi.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives from both organisations highlighted the importance of education as a catalyst for economic empowerment, career advancement, and sustainable development.
