Unicaf University and NYCOM Sign MoU to Empower Youth Through Education

Lilongwe, Malawi – 30 June 2025Unicaf University is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM), solidifying a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for the youth of Malawi. The official signing ceremony took place at the B.I.C.C. and marks a significant step in advancing the country’s efforts towards youth empowerment and national development.

The MoU was signed by Dr Fritz Kadyoma, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Unicaf University, and Mr Rex Chapota, Executive Director of NYCOM, in a collaborative effort to provide accessible, quality higher education to young Malawians across the country.

Through this partnership, Unicaf University and NYCOM will work together to promote awareness of online learning and provide young people with access to internationally recognised Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programmes. The initiative will focus on making higher education more accessible through flexible delivery models, generous scholarship opportunities, and professional development pathways tailored to the unique needs of Malawi’s youth.

NYCOM, a government institution established in 1996 under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, continues to play a vital role in fostering youth development. Its work supports national goals through programmes focused on leadership, health, environmental sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

This partnership will help transform the educational landscape for young people in Malawi, equipping the next generation with tools to thrive in a global economy.
